Have you ever been silly with kids? Have you ever tried to be kids with them? I would assume most of us have indeed!
It is super fun to do all things that you would ‘categorise’ as silly with them. It is fun to laugh out, it gives you pleasure to see them happy and the best thing is the hug that you get when the fun moment is over.
But there is more to this ~ These moments are as much important for your happiness as they are for the kids and their well being.
Strengthens your bond
If you be kids with kids, they feel you understand them better. They will relate more with you, which in turn will strengthen your bond. They will enjoy your company more and hence, maybe value your relationship more.
And every bit of research says that strong parent-child bond has many positive benefits and being silly is one of the ways in which you can strengthen that bond.
Being yourself
Living in a world where we have to behave in a certain way all the time, where you are conscious of being judged, it is very important to make kids understand that it is absolutely okay to be yourself. It’s okay to be silly, its okay to laugh and its okay to be crazy. This is as normal as it could be.
As much discipline is important, it is equally important for the kids to be themselves and a part of being a kid is being silly. After all they are kids and childhood is the most innocent, pure and wonderful thing in this world.
Happy home leads to happy kids
This is not only true for kids, but also for us. We all know the amount of stress we bring to our lives in the constant juggle to balance home and work. Also, research says that kids with well developed sense of humor have higher self-esteem.
Lets try and echo our homes with loads of laughter and heaps of fun!
Laughter is the best medicine
As parents we are always busy in ‘getting things done’. We have a never ending ‘to-do’ list that we are chasing non-stop. And there comes these crazy moments that bring the much needed pause and bring back some life.
We all know benefits of laughing and being happy. Now that we have discussed the softer benefits of a happy house, lets dig a bit into science.
- Laughing relaxes whole body
- Laughing boots immune system
- Laughter releases feel good hormones
- Laughing may even help you live longer

I feel like I am not silly like this with the kids often enough. I think I focus too much on getting stuff done and working and I get overwhelmed. This is a good reminder to have fun ๐

Totally agree with this. Especially in tense situations or when emotions are running high, we aim to bring out some silliness to connect with our kids and level out all the emotion. Thank you for sharing!
